  • Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Nicholas “Bob” Gauthier, 55, of Lawrence, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Private burial will be held at a later date at Matfield Green Cemetery in Matfield Green. He died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at his home.
    Robert was born July 8, 1958 in Williston, N.D., the son of John Carl and Leta (Lanning) Gauthier.
    He served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Kansas Technical Institute in Salina and also attended the University of Kansas.
    He was a computer programmer for Allen Press for 16 years. He formerly worked for E and E Display Group for 10 years also as a computer programmer.
    He was married to Gail Ann Johnson on Dec. 7, 1985 in El Dorado. She survives of the home.
    Other survivors include two daughters, Lindsay and Rachel of the home; his parents of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Mary Jo Peterson and husband, Steven, of Rockford, Ill., Nancy May and husband Don of Towanda, and Jill Lingle and husband Soapy of Juneau, Ark.; two brothers, Rodney Gauthier and wife, Mary of Juneau, Ark., and Greg Gauthier and wife Robbyn of El Dorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn and Jackie.
    A parish rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
    The family suggests memorials in his name to Douglas County Special Olympics or Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
