Josephine “Jo” Wimberly, 88, Andover, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Victoria Nursing Center in Andover.
A celebration of her life will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug.13, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow the services in Towanda Cemetery.
Jo was born on Aug. 18, 1924 in Augusta, the daughter of Lester and Pauline Van Middlesworth Markley. She graduated from Augusta High School and received her AA from Butler Co. Junior College. On June 2, 1946, she was married at Cumberland Community Church to Lemoine Wimberly. He preceded her in death.
Jo was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Susan B. Allen Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, oil painting, making jewelry, and gardening.
She leaves: her daughters and their husbands Gayla and Hillard Goldsmith, Augusta, Carol Waltman, Andover, Jamie Griggs and Bob Gates, Wichita, Karma and Gary Starkel, El Dorado; brothers and their wives, John and Martha Markley, California, and Jerry and Sally Markley, Ohio; sister, Alice Winzer, Augusta; sister-in-law, Laura Jean Weber, Newton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jo was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lowell Marley; and son-in-law, Richard Waltman.
