  • Josephine “Jo” Wimberly, 88, of Andover, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at Victoria Nursing Center in Andover.

  • Josephine “Jo” Wimberly, 88, of Andover, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at Victoria Nursing Center in Andover. A celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow the services in Towanda Cemetery.
    Jo was born on Aug. 18, 1924 in Augusta, the daughter of Lester and Pauline Van Middlesworth Markley. She graduated from Augusta High School and received her AA from Butler Co. Junior College.
    On June 2, 1946, she was married at Cumberland Community Church. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado and worked as a Pink Lady at Susan B. Allen Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, doing oil painting, making jewelry and gardening.
    Her husband preceded her in death.
    Those she leaves include daughters and their husbands, Gayla and Hillard Goldsmith of Augusta, Carol Waltman of Andover, Jamie Griggs and Bob Gates of Wichita, and Karma and Gary Starkel of El Dorado; brothers and their wives, John and Martha Markley of California and Jerry and Sally Markley of Ohio; sister, Alice Winzer of Augusta; sister-in-law, Laura Jean Weber of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Memorials to her memory for Bradford Memorial Library may be directed to Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Condolences to the family can be sent to www.carlsoncolonial.com. Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado are in charge of the arrangements.
