  • Man's best friend became a woman's hero during Monday's storms.
Monday evening Shady Creek Marina Manager Debbie Halled was at home in their houseboat while her husband, Mo, was at work.
She was going about her usual nightly routine, unaware of how severe the approaching storm was.
Mo said Debbie noticed their dog, Blinko, pacing back and forth, something he usually doesn't do. Mo said Blinko is about 10 years old and by that time of night he's always asleep.
Debbie thought he might need out, so she let him out the door like she has many times before. This time, Blinko suddenly took off running across the parking lot at the Shady Creek Marina.
Little did Debbie know at the time what a blessing this would be.
She chased after Blinko and by the time she caught up to him, the storm had hit the area so she took cover in a nearby building.
"Otherwise she would have still been in the boat," Mo said.
He said there was quite a bit of damage to their boat.
"It was like someone picked up the boat and shook it," he said.
He credits Blinko for saving his wife that night.
