The Butler County Community College held a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the finalization of the budget for the upcoming year.
The budget, which has been discussed in meetings for the past several months, was at the forefront of the meeting because of the upcoming public hearing date, which is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the Ted and Barbara Dankert Board Room in the Hubbard Welcome Center.
Kent Williams, vice president for finance, presented the budget.
“The proposed operating budget for the fiscal year of 2014 is $47,581,905, which includes internal transfers. The proposed legal expenditure budget is $76,609,368,” said Williams.
The legal expenditure budget, which is the higher of the two, provides the trustees the ability to increase the operating budget during the year if deemed necessary in response to unforseen circumstances.
“The whole purpose of the meeting tonight was the notice of public hearing and we needed the approval of this budget in order to move forward,” explained Williams.
The move to approve the budget for the fiscal year of 2014 for Butler County Community College was approved by all residing members, with no one opposed.
The next meeting, which will be held in August, will have an agenda of approving the maximum legal budget for the fiscal year of 2014 and the operating budget for fiscal year of 2014.
