A motorcycle rider is dead following a hit and run.
A hit and run a little after midnight killed a motorcycle rider in Butler County.
According to Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet, a call was placed to 911 at 12:10 a.m. today reporting an injury accident involving a motorcycle at NW Butler Road and NW 30th.
"Upon deputies arriving, they located on the ground in the intersection a female face down," he said.
When EMS arrived they pronounced the driver of the motorcycle, Wanetta Hare, 48, of Andover, deceased. She was not wearing a helmet.
Herzet said the 911 call had been placed by Kirtis Easley, 31, of rural El Dorado.
"He is well-known to law enforcement," Herzet said.
When they learned Easley had placed the call, deputies headed to his house and made a traffic stop on the way of a white 2000 Chevrolet pickup and identified Easley as the driver.
"He wouldn't stop until he got to his driveway," Herzet said.
Deputies discovered damage to the front end of his pickup and there was a mirror left at the scene.
Through the investigation, they arrested Easley and charged him with leaving the scene of a fatality accident and vehicular homicide, with other charges pending.
