As part of the Augusta Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, The Soil Tunnel Trailer was at the library Tuesday morning. The Trailer is a museum-quality mobile educational tool available for use across the state of Kansas through local conservation districts.

The self-contained trailer features soils and the interaction of natural resources underground. The design inside, outside, and on top of the trailer brings the world of soil to life. It includes information on the natural history of the soil with 3-D worms, roots and other organisms. Viewers also learn about the relationship between humans and our effects on soil and other natural ersources.

The “ceiling” of the trailer inside features a clever design of a mole digging through the surface of the soil.
