Sue Elizabeth Modlin, 73, of Leon, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, Severy. Interment will be in South Lawn Cemetery, Severy.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1939 in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Granville and Alta Viola (Cartwright) Johnson. She was a homemaker and had worked as a model for Catherine's Woman's World, in Wichita; and for PFS. On Oct. 19, 1956 she and David J. Modlin, Sr, were married in Bloomington, Calif.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sherlynn and Doug Hawley of Leon, Sandra and Ron Robert of Severy, David Modlin, Jr. and wife Kathryn Boyle of Derby, and Stacy Modlin of Leon; the children's father, David J. Modlin of Blue Springs, Mo.; one sister, Linda Kay Turner of Leon; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Bryan, Andrea, Sarah, Joshua and Rebecca; and 11 great-grandchildren.
