Dolores Lyvonne (Robertson) Barney, 84, wife of Edwin Leon Barney of Richmond and most recently of Staunton, Va., passed away, Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Emeritus of Staunton.
Mrs. Barney was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Towanda, KS, a daughter of the late John and Dora (Doyle) Robertson.
Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook. She always made time to sew, or cook for family and friends while working outside the home in various secretarial positions.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barney was preceded in death by
two brothers, Robert and Junior Robertson; and a sister, Phyllis Griffith.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 66 years, is a son, John William Barney and his wife Carol of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Joyce M. Barney and her significant other, Roger Ryder of Staunton; a brother, Kenneth Robertson and his wife Pat of Leon; sisters-in-law, Marie Waltman of El Dorado and Helen Beckham and her husband Dwight of Newton; a step-grandchild; a step-great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Memory Gardens in Staunton by Rev. JoAnn Bunn.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
