  • Kyle Bilbrey and Jason McMurray hit homers to power host Derby to a 4-1 victory over El Dorado on Thursday night, snapping the Broncos five-game winning streak.
    El Dorado finally broke through in the fifth. Christian Cox opened with a single and was wild-pitched to second. Coby Roming singled Cox to third. Cox scored John Coen's infield grounder.
    Thomas Clay followed with a single to put runners at first and third with one out.
    However, Trever Ezell struck out and Tyler Ware grounded out to end the threat.
    In the sixth, El Dorado squandered another opportunity. With one out, Wade Stramp was picked off first. Jake Straub walked, Cox singled and Roming walked to load the bases with two outs. Coan grounded out to end the threat.
    Again the Broncos threatened in the ninth. Roming was hit by a pitch. He was forced at second on Coan's grounder. Clayton Taylor hit a pinch single to put runners on first and second and one out. However, Ezell hit into a game-ending double play.

    Broncos beat Junction City 8-6
    David Parrett and Jose Rosado delievered two-out, two-run singles to rally El Dorado to an 8-6 victory over Junction City's Brigade on Wednesday night at McDonald Stadium.
    Trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, Mark Kane opened by reaching on an error. Christian Cox walked, but Todd Ritchie popped up for the first out. Thomas Clay tried to sacrifice, but Cox was thrown out at second for the second out. It looked as if a promising inning was going down the drain.
    However, Clayton Taylor walked to load the bases. Parrett delievered a two-run shot between short and third to score Kane and Clay.
    Newcomer Jake Staub was hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Rosado lifted a Texas Leaguer behind second base that fell in, driving in Taylor and Parrett.
    The victory is the Broncos' fifth straight.
    They play host to Jayhawk League foe Dodge Citiy in a three-game series beginning Friday.
    Junction City threw a scare into the Broncos in the ninth, loading the bases with one out. However, Alex Posey grabbedf a comebacker and forced a baserunner at the plate then struck out Sam Francis to end the game.
