The Coutts Museum of Art will be holding their first-ever Summer Youth Art Camp experience in July.
Create @ the Coutts is a three-day art camp for Butler County youth ages 8 to 14. Butler County School System Instructors Sherry Hermreck, Desiree Haag and Brenda Collins will lead the program.
Children will be grouped by age with 8 – 10 year olds in session from 9 to 11 a.m. and 11 to 14 year-olds from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Museum staff and volunteers will also be assisting. A registration form is available from the museum or can be found in the Shopper Guide this week.
The camp is designed for students who show a strong interest in art and a desire to expand those art interests. Through the camp, students have an opportunity to receive more individual guidance than they might during their regular school art periods. Class sizes will be limited to 20 students in each age group, so it is important to register early. The Coutts has worked to keep the fees minimal at $20 for all three days to make it affordable for as many as possible.
The Coutts is seeking donations to help offset the costs of establishing and continuing this program. In recognition of their 43rd anniversary, the museum staff suggests a contribution of $43, which would help pay for usable supplies such as paint, brushes, containers, canvas, paper, drawing supplies, etc.
“This is a terrific new opportunity to extend the museum’s programs out into the community,” said Museum Director Rod Seel. “We would appreciate any contributions to allow us to build, expand and continue this program aimed at the youth of our county.”
