It was a long weekend for El Dorado as it finished eighth in the annual Andover American Legion Classic.
After dropping its first two pool-play games 14-4 to Salina and 17-1 to Andover Central, El Dorado went up against the Wichita Dodgers, who showed why they advanced to the tournament’s title game as they blanked El Dorado 10-0 in a run-rule shortened game.
The Dodgers’ Logan Bison had El Dorado’s number throughout the game. He allowed just two hits, both singles, in the three-inning contest.
El Dorado went in order in both the first and second innings. Landon Coskelly opened the third with a single to left, but was thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double. Its other hit came in the fourth when Zac Ruff singled with two outs.
Colton Allemand started on the mound for El Dorado, and Nate Jacobs came on in the fourth.
In the seventh-place game, Emporia beat El Dorado 14-0.
