On Thursday, the newly crowned Miss Kansas' Outstanding Teen, Kristen Boxman, will be in El Dorado at El Do Fro Yo.
They have partnered with Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and are giving 20 percent of the profits from 4 to 10 p.m. that day.
Boxman will be there during that time to talk with people, take pictures, sign autographs, etc.
Boxman will be a senior at Arkansas City High School this year. Her personal platform is Body Blueprint: Back to the Basics, and is all about living healthy lifestyles. She also is a tap dancer and will be representing Kansas at the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Fla., in August.
The Miss Kansas' Outstanding Teen pageant began in 2004. Boxman is their 10th titleholder.
The teens compete in the following phases of competition:
• Private Interview – 25 percent
• Talent – 35 percent
• Evening Wear & On-Stage Question – 20 percent
•Lifestyle & Fitness in Sportswear – 10 percent
The Miss America Organization is national partners with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and in the last six years, contestants have raised more than $8 million to support hospitals all across North America. The funds that Boxman raises will go to Kansas children's hospitals.
