The Scriptures teach us the value of investing in the Lord.
The financial market tells us that we must invest if we are to secure a future for ourselves. It is good planning to invest for a rainy day, because it will come.
What if I told you that there is another investment that will pay dividends 100 times greater than any earthly investment? Are you interested? The Scriptures teach us the value of investing in the Lord!
First, when we invest in the Lord, there is a peace of mind. Jesus says so, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21).
Jesus says the heart of man lies in his treasures. The true treasure lies in investing in the Lord!
Second, when we invest in the Lord there is a peace which surpasses all understanding. Again Jesus says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33).
The things that investing in the Lord bring are the daily necessities in living life (food, clothing, etc.) The key is putting God first in our lives. When he is first, everything else falls in place!
Finally, when we invest in the Lord, there is a promise of good things to come. Paul says, “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” (1 Timothy 6:17).
Did you read Paul carefully? The things that are visible to the eye are uncertain, yet the things which are invisible to the eye are certain. Earthly riches are uncertain, yet God is certain.
Invest in the Lord!
