  • James W. “Jim” Bell, 70, died Tuesday, June 18 in Wichita.

  • James W. “Jim” Bell, 70, died Tuesday, June 18 in Wichita. Celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in El Dorado.
    Jim was born Oct. 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of James Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Teter) Bell. He graduated from Edmond High School in 1958 then attended Central State College in Edmond, Okla., graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and physics. Jim also served in the United States Marines for three years. He was united in marriage to Sharon Campbell Foltz on Aug. 18, 1984 in Edmond. He worked as a Corrosion Engineer for oil refineries in both Ponca City, Okla., and El Dorado. Professional memberships include the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and the professional society for Chemical Engineers. Jim also served as the sound technician at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener growing tomatoes of all varieties in his garden. Jim loved cooking and woodworking. He enjoyed sports, and was a KU basketball and OU football fan.
    Survivors include wife, Sharon; children, Elizabeth and husband Marty Jordan of Ohio, and Brian Foltz and Erica and husband Ray Olsen, all of Andover; brothers, Michael and wife Linda Bell of Lewiston, Idaho, and Robert Bell of Dallas, Texas; sister, Patricia and husband Warren Griffin of Edmond; and grandchildren, Katie, Malea and Payton; great grandson Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents.
