El Dorado scored five runs in the first four innings then turned to its defense to hold off Wellington 5-4 Monday night at McDonald Stadium.
The victory was the El Dorado/Wichita Broncos' 1,000th.
With the scored tied at 2, El Dorado second baseman Coby Roming made three straight defensive gems in the top of the second to keep the tiie.
The Broncos took the lead for good in the third when Wade Stramp singled, stole second and scored on Patrick Esposite's single.
El Dorado struck twice in the fifth. John Coen led off with a single, then Todd Ritchie got his first hit as a Bronco, scoring Coen.
Ritchie scored on an odd play. David Parrett hit a short fly ball to right. Kyle Kilgore caught the ball; and after Ritchie bluffed going home, Kilgore fired his throw wildly into the Bronco duggout.
Parrett homered in the first, the second straight game he has homered. Earlier, Ritchie as walked, stole second and went to third on a groundout. He was balked home.
The win helps the Broncos remain in second place at 7-4.
It was the fourth straight one-run victory for El Dorado. It lost a 3-2 14-inning decision the last time the two teams met.
El Dorado takes on Derby Thursday in Jayhawk League play on the road before returning home to host Dodge City for a three game homestand this weekend.
