Augusta Cub Scout Pack 209 conducted their annual swim test at the Augusta City pool recently. Each year scouts review water safety in preparation for summer camp activities.
Twenty-six cub scouts and 16 adult leaders were tested on their swimming ability and instructed on proper use of a flotation device. The Webelo dens (4th and 5th grade scouts) also learned about and practiced canoe safety.
Pack 209 is a solid part of Augusta's history. Founded prior to 1980, and chartered through the Knights of Columbus St. James Catholic Church, Pack 209 provides boys in first through fifth grades camaraderie and fun while instilling core life values such as respect, responsibility and honesty.
