Hello everyone! Did y'all enjoy my face plastered on the front page of your paper Friday morning?!
What I understood to be a small write up, turned into the front page of the Dodge City Daily Globe! (Pretty sure my mother already has this framed!) She is very proud of me...I've gotta love her for letting the whole world know it. I even made it on the front page for Saturday's paper with my picture of the baby buffalo at the Wright Park Zoo. The Globe also featured my blog on their homepage! I'm very thankful for the recognition and help spreading the word about my blog. The objective of my internship is to help the CVB increase their online presence. Our Facebook page has gotten over 100 likes in two weeks, so I'd say were off to a great start! If you haven't liked us on Facebook, get it done! We have a theme every day of the week and are giving away some great prizes!
No news from Dodge City as I took Friday off to head home for a long weekend! I had a great time working at Barrel Springs Hunt Club and spending time with my family for Father's Day! As mentioned in the newspaper article, I want to own and operate a hunting lodge in the future. This passion came from my first job I held at Barrel Springs. Check out their website and show them some love! It is such a great place to spend the weekend stuffing your face with home cooked food, shooting guns, and just enjoying the simple life in Western, KS!
My nephew/godson turned 5 last week. I wasn't able to make the party, but made it up to him when I brought him a "real" shotgun! haha (cap guns are a great invention!) We had to establish some ground rules like NOT shooting people unless we are playing Cowboys and Indians or cops and bad guys! He has such a wild imagination...and entirely too much energy! But this Auntie does a pretty good job keepin up!
Entertainment for the weekend was a concert Saturday night in Leoti, KS. Wes Cossman Band
put on a great show at the Iron Horse Tavern. The wind and rain moved the show inside, not to mention left me looking like a drowned cat...but the party still went on! I'll post a picture of Wes Cossman, rockin out...because no one needs to see what my hair looked like after the rain! Visit their website for more information, pictures, and upcoming events. They will be playing at Central Station for the Dodge City Days Dance on August 1st. If you're a red dirt fan, it's worth the drive!
Time flies when your having fun, before I knew it Sunday was here and it was time to honor this fun loving, goofy guy I call my Dad! I am the baby of the family and definitely a daddy's girl. He is responsible for my love of the outdoors, obsession with caps, and knowledge to shoot a gun, change a tire, pull a trailer, and much more! Pretty blessed to have him in my life. Happy Father's Day to my old man...and all you other old men out there! : )
And remember folks...Home is where you hang yet hat!
