  • The El Dorado Municipal Band will be hosting the 35th Infantry Division Band of the Kansas Army National Guard for a special concert at 7 p.m. June 25.
Steven Wilson, band director along with John Templin, said the Army band had asked if they wanted to host them.
"The last time they were here was probably five years ago," Wilson said. "We thought it would be something worth bringing back."
The patriotic concert, titled "A Home Front Concert," will be held at the band shell at Forest Park.
It will feature military marches, patriotic music, big band selections and a special salute to veterans and their families.
It will presented by the citizen soldiers of the Kansas Army national Guard Band with Chief Warrant Officer Stephen J. Patterson, commander.
The El Dorado Municipal Band will open the concert.
"They'll get to see some of El Dorado's city band, which has a great talent this year, and they will get to see the Army band play," Wilson said of those who attend.
"There should be something in there that everyone should like."
The concert is free to attend.
