  • Wichita contemporary folk artists Robin Roberts and Billie Preston will be performing for the Coutts Museum of Art monthly Brown Bag Lunch Program from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Roberts and Preston are a favorite of Brown Bag audiences, and have been performing steadily at a variety of venues in the surrounding area since 2008.
They were selected to play for the “Louisiana Swamp Thing and Crawfish Festival” in Buda, Texas in April of 2011 and are always on the lookout for fun and interesting places to bring their renditions of folk, blues, and bluegrass tunes.
In 2010 they released their CD "Pay-Day Motors" with 15 original songs written by Roberts. The CD has put their music in the hands of a much larger audience, and opened many doors for them as musicians.
Roberts is a singer/songwriter, guitar and banjo player. He has been writing songs and playing for decades. Billie Preston is a folk singer from Wichita who brings beautiful vocal harmony and finger picking guitar to the duo. She is an entertaining performer whose vocals bring depth of emotion and feeling to the wonderful lyrics of their songs.
Roberts and Preston's concert repertoire is a blend of Robert's original compositions (a genre hybrid sometimes referred to as “folkgrass”), interspersed with new arrangements of traditional and other songs.
Together they create a sound that is warm and fun, edgy and smooth… an all around good listening time.
