  • The suspect in last Wednesday’s police chase in Augusta is still being held without bond in the Butler County Jail.
Jeremy Hutchens had a hearing this week that resulted in his bond from a previous charge remaining revoked.
Jeremy Hutchens, who was arrested after allegedly stealing a car in Oklahoma before leading Augusta Safety Officer Quenton Shoopman on a high-speed chase that resulted in an accident that injured Shoopman and resulted in a five-hour manhunt, was already wanted on a “no bond” warrant for a previous offense.
Hutchens had failed to appear in court on charges of aggravated assault. When he failed to appear, his bond was revoked.
He was still being sought when Officer Shoopman contacted him at about 4:15 a.m. on June 5.
After the police pursuit and manhunt, Hutchens had a new bond set at $25,000 for charges of:
    • Burglary (Hutchens is accused of stealing the car he used in the chase)
    • Felony theft
    • Aggravated Failure to appear
    • Felony possession of marijuana
    • Felony obstruction of an officers
    • and felony fleeing or eluding an officer.
Officer Shoopman was released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
Preliminary hearings for Hutchens have been set for June 26 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
