  • TGA of Central Kansas has partnered with Prairie Trails Golf Course in El Dorado to offer two junior-golf camps this summer.
The first session will run from June 17-21, and the second session will take place July 15-19.
Each day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at noon.
Campers will spend time each day working on the putting green, at the driving range and on the course.
They will also learn rules and etiquette that are essential for enjoyment of the game.
Tyler Dansel, territory director for TGA of Central Kansas, said, “We are extremely excited to partner with Prairie Trails Golf Course. We believe it is the premier public golf facility in Butler County, and with the brand new driving range set to be completed at the beginning of June, we’re looking forward to introducing a whole new set of kids to golf and growing the game in Central Kansas.”
TGA of Central Kansas was founded in February 2013 with the goal of growing the game of golf in the region by conducting after-school golf programs and camps at area courses.
This spring three Sedgwick County schools offered TGA after-school golf to their students: St. Mark’s School, part of Renwick USD 267; Discovery Intermediate School, part of Goddard USD 265; and St. Peter’s Catholic School.
TGA hopes to expand and offer programs in up to 15 Central Kansas schools. TGA Premier Junior Golf, the parent company of TGA of Central Kansas, was founded in 2003 and is the nation’s first at-school, after-school golf enrichment program.
There are TGA programs in 21 states and in more than 2,000 schools nationwide.
TGA breaks down the traditional barriers of inconvenience and high cost when golf is brought to children through their schools.
TGA's five-level Golf Enrichment Program, developed by PGA and LPGA golf professionals in coordination with top PhDs in education and curriculum development, teaches the fundamentals and rules and etiquette of golf.
It also promotes education and golf's life values through its character development initiative, "Play the Fair Way with TGA."
TGA is a USGA-approved program under the Rules of Amateur Status.
