Augusta High School has selected seniors Taylor Childers and Chase Winter as the 2012-13 athletes of the year.
Childers, who played girls tennis, basketball and soccer, has earned several league honors during her high school career. She was named co-Most Valuable Player in the AVCTL-Div. IV this past soccer season and earned another First Team All-League honor. Childers has been named to multiple All-State teams throughout her soccer career, as well. Childers earned Honorable Mention during her junior season of girls basketball.
Childers was named First Team All-State for her performance during this past girls soccer season. This is the third time Childers has earned All-State honors in her career.
Winter, who competed in cross country, boys basketball and baseball, was named Second Team All-League in basketball this past season. He averaged 8.4 points per game and was second in the league in free throw percentage. In baseball, Winter was named Second Team All-League as a utility player.
