Despite its struggles, Augusta's girls soccer team was represented well in the All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League-Div. IV selections.
Perhaps none was more fitting than Taylor Childers, Augusta's goalkeeper who was named First Team All-League and earned league co-MVP honors. Childers' knack for making tough saves against regular onslaughts from opponents as well as her vocal leadership with the Orioles were big reasons the Orioles even stayed close in so many games that they probably wouldn't have otherwise.
Childers' save percentage was well above 80 percent, and she made around 20 or more saves in a game with some regularity.
McPherson midfielder Colleen O'Connor also earned league co-MVP honors.
Three Orioles earned Second Team honors. Shelby Clay, one of the Orioles' top forwards, was named an All-League forward. Kaeley Hansen, a key player on both ends of the field, was named an All-League midfielder. Brittany Johnson, who became a valuable back-row player, was named an All-League defender.
Meagan Grantham, one of the team's hardest workers, earned honorable mention as a midfielder for the Orioles.
