Work on the new Garvin Park playground is getting closer to completion.
After the decades old equipment was deemed to be unsafe and removed in January of 2012, the city began work to get funding together for a new playground.
That work began recently and should be completed by the end of May.
The concrete work is finished and the equipment is installed.
The final sidewalk work will be done this weekend and by Tuesday, the soft surface technicians will be pouring the 2.5-3.5 inch deep surface under the equipment.
After a few days of curing, the playground will be ready to use.
The City’s Engineer, MKEC will begin work on the parking lot portion of the project after bids are presented to the City Council for approval at the June 3 meeting.
