Harold L. “Tack” Hammer, 85 of Leon, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in El Dorado. Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2:00 p.m. at Leon Christian Church. Interment will follow in Leon Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, May 24 at Carlson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tack was born on July 1, 1927 in Leon, the son of Alonzo and Ethel (Knox) Hammer.
He graduated from Leon High School and served in the United States Navy. Tack was a member of the Leon Christian Church and loved KU Basketball. He was the owner and operator of H & M Oil Company. Tack was united in marriage to Arleta F. Bohon on December 1, 1946 in Leon. Arleta preceded him in death on May 16, 2006 after 59 years of marriage.
He leaves his daughters, Lynda (Bruce) McAllister and Jan McAllister; son, Steve Hammer all of El Dorado; 10 grandchildren, Shawn, Stacy, Joshua, Macy, Mica, Tessa, Damon, Derik, Nathan, Kelcey and 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, sister, Lucille Taylor and son-in-law, Larry McAllister also preceded Tack in death.
