Veldonna Rush, 77, Augusta, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17 , 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Augusta.

Jimmie Veldonna Rush was born on Aug, 10, 1935, the daughter of James A. and Belma L. (Bucket) Nutter in Augusta. She was a 1953 graduate of Augusta High School. She was united in marriage with John Rush on Dec. 23, 1954. Veldonna was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, stained glass, crochet, sewing, knitting, making jewelry, making wedding cakes and was a great cook as well as an avid genealogist. Until her retirement she was a supervisor for the Kansas Dept. of Aging.

Survivors include: her husband John Rush of the home; son, Kevin and wife Melinda of Wichita; daughter, Karen Thummel and husband Alan of Yukon, Okla.; brother, Delbert Nutter and wife Kathy of Queen Creek, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Anna Woodhams, Matthew Thummel, Allison Thummel, Jonathan Rush and Megan Rush; three great-grandchildren, Madison Woodhams, Ashley Woodhams and Emarie Treleaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Nutter.
