  • Sunday's severe weather that brought rain, hail and even tornadoes for Kansas, held off long enough for the Augusta High School Class of 2013 to enjoy their commencement ceremony at Hillier Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Augusta USD 402 Superintendent Dr. John Black gave the opening remarks and AHS Principal Donna Zerr introduced the class Valedictorians; Roy Chen, Taylor Childers, Brett Hamilton, Bailey Malm, Courtney Phillips, and Rebekah Schaffer.
The Senior Choir, directed by Rachel Simmons, sang "Maybe Someday," and the band, directed by Todd Hollis played "Pomp and Circumstance."
The senior speakers were Brett Hamilton and Courtney Phillips.
Members of the Augusta School Board presented diplomas to the graduates.
