WINFIELD—Augusta’s boys golf team finished in third place in the team standings at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League-Div. IV meet at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield.
The Orioles shot 349 as a team. Wichita Collegiate won first place with a team score of 319. Circle edged the Orioles by eight strokes at 341 for second place.
Kesten Trebbe was tied for second with a hot start of 38 halfway through and finished with a round of 79, which was good for fifth place overall.
Circle’s Dominic Lara won the division championship with a 75.
Riley Kemmer of Collegiate took second place with a score of 77. Collegiate’s Camron Chugg and Clearwater’s Jonnie Critchlow both shot 78.
Jacob Urmacher stepped up to finish second for Augusta. He shot an 88. Trevar Bevan shot a 90, and Brock Keazer and Breck Winter both shot 92 for the Orioles.
The Orioles now will prepare for the Class 4A meet at the Prairie Trails Country Club in El Dorado Monday, May 13. Tee-off time is 8:30 a.m. Other team that will compete with Augusta are Chanute, El Dorado, Iola, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Circle, Collegiate, Wichita-Trinity Academy and Winfield.
The top two teams and top five placers not on a qualifying team advance to the Class 4A state meet Monday, May 20 at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney.
