Lewis R. Glass, 87, of Benton, passed away May 6, 2013, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1925, at Benton, the son of John and Maude (Miller) Glass. He attended rural schools until he went to Whitewater High School. He graduated with the class of 1943. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during WWII. On Nov. 11, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Haring. He was a farmer and stockman. He served on the Murdock Township Board and drove the road maintainer for 26 years. He served on the Golden Gate School Board and was on the Rural Water District #7 Board for 20 years, serving as chairman. He was a member of the now Augusta Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #74, for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Dorothy of the home; daughter, Kathy Hoch and husband Mark of Potwin; sons, Richard and wife Renee of Cherryvale, and Paul of Benton; a sister, Lydia Ann Warren and husband Wayne of Laramie, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation with family will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday and the Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, all at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. Interment will be in the Brainerd Cemetery.
