  • The Coutts Museum of Art annual Member Bus Trip has been scheduled for Saturday, June 1.
The event is for current members of the Museum, but nonmember tickets are available for $50 and include a single membership good through the remainder of the year. The member rate for the trip is $35. Reservations must be made prior to May 25.
This year’s trip will leave the museum at 110 N. Main in El Dorado promptly at 7:30 a.m. Coffee, juice and pastries will be served in the museum lobby before departing. The bus will arrive in Kansas City around 10:15 a.m. and a guided tour of the Nelson Atkins is included, as well as time to tour freely.
Lunch “on your own” will be at the Rozelle Café in the museum. The bus will depart approximately 2:15, with a stop at the Pioneer Bluffs Museum in Matfield Green. The bus should arrive back at the Coutts by 6 p.m.
The Bus Trip is a popular annual member benefit. Last year, the destination was Ponca City, Okla. Previous trips have been to Abilene, Manhattan, Lawrence, Topeka, Lindsborg and Bartlesville.
“We encourage both members and nonmembers to come out for this trip,” said Museum Director Rod Seel. “It’s a great way to spend a day trip, without worrying about driving. The Nelson Atkins is a premiere museum venue that everyone should see. The Pioneer Bluffs Museum is a great place to stop on the way back as well.”
The Coutts Museum of Art, located in downtown El Dorado, is a regional destination art museum that houses more than 1,500 works of art in an historic downtown building. The collection includes Art of the American West, contemporary American, European, and regional Kansas art. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. The museum is always free and open to the public.
