Love Augusta set for June 22.
Love Augusta is a project that allows area churches to show their love for the community in a tangible way.
Whether it is building a wheelchair ramp, a new porch or cleaning up debris, volunteers come together to make Augusta a little bit better place to live.
The project began because several area churches had members who would help their friends and neighbors and other church members with similar projects. That type of ministry is not new or unique.
But two years ago, the Augusta United Methodist Church broadened the scope of that ministry and made it a city-wide project.
This year, eight area churches will take part in Love Augusta on June 22. Volunteers will meet at PlayPoint Park that morning.
The churches – Augusta United Methodist Church, Life Church, First Baptist, First Southern Baptist, St. James Catholic Church, Christ Lutheran, First Christian Church and Haverhill Christian Church – will take applications from anyone in the community who needs some work done and they will show their love for the town where they minister.
The group will take applications for any project for homeowners. They will help renters too, but they won’t be able to do structural work on those homes.
Obviously, for this project to accomplish all it can, Love Augusta will need funding and volunteers from these seven churches and across the community.
The group is using the Caring Center as a funding mechanism since they have an established 501c3 tax designation. Anyone can donate money there and designate it specifically to the Love Augusta project.
Volunteer forms may be picked up at any of the participating churches or the Caring Center. Forms to nominate projects to be completed may also be picked up at any of those locations.
If you have any questions about the group or want to nominate a project to be considered or volunteer electronically, send an email to email@example.com or visit the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LoveAugusta.
June 29 is reserved in case of rain or to complete projects that aren’t finished on June 22.
