Gene F. Thompson, 80, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Lake Point of El Dorado. There will be services at a later date.
He was born on March 21, 1933 in Ainsworth, Neb., the son of Earl J. and Mable (Phillips) Thompson.
After finishing his schooling, he spent time in the Army, and was a self-employed Refrigeration repair man. He was married to Frances Worsham in 1953 in Pattonsville, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1999. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended Prospect Baptist Church.
Those who survive include his daughters and their husbands, Connie Jo and Dan Otterness of Vera Beach, Fla., Gayle and Howard Henderson of El Dorado and Janice and David Enright of Perrysburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Jerme, Angie, Ryan, Abby, Shane, Jayme, Jordan, Danielle, Stephanie and Braeden; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jared, Madison, Frances, Paula, Nicholas, Trent, Amelia, Kamryn, Adrik, Jackson and Nicholi.
He was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Micah; his mother, Mable Williams; wife, Frances; a sister, Carol Witt; and a brother, Dale Thompson.
