  • Three event highlights
1 The Elks Lodge will be holding its annual Kids Safe Night Out event on Friday in the parking lot of the First Christian Church, a new location for them last year.
2 The activities will include games, hot dogs, snow cones, pizza, pop, Ident-A-Kid, prize drawings, a rollover car and convincer from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the D.A.R.E. drug trailer and miniature golf. They also will be giving away six bicycles.
3 The new location keeps the activities more centralized and provides for more of a carnival atmosphere. In addition, the 100 block of North Star will be blocked off to ensure safety of the kids.
    Why you should attend
"I want folks to come out and have a good time. The whole thing is trying to show kids and parents there are better things to do besides drugs. It also shows how an organization can do great things for the community. We want to promote betters choices to be made."
