After several delays, postponements and missed practices, Augusta's middle school track and field teams finally got some chances to compete.
The four Bluejays teams traveled to the Bob Hoover Andover Invitational. The 7th-grade girls team did the best, taking fourth place with 54.33 team points. The 7th-grade (56) and 8th-grade (56) boys teams both took fifth. The 8th-grade girls took seventh.
For the 7th-grade girls team, Jayden Austin had a big day, which included a sweep of the hurdles races. She won first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.41 seconds and the 200-m hurdles with a time of 32.70.
Austin took third place in the 400-m race with a time of 1:07.77.
Natalie Rockers finished in third place in the 800-m race (2:52.46). Rockers also took sixth in the 200-m hurdles (35.30).
The Bluejays' 4x200-m relay team took third with a time of 2:08.76.
In the field, Raegen Davis took fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 0 inches. Brooke Patterson tied for sixth (3'10").
Haylee Hoefgen took sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 13'4".
For the 8th-grade girls, Katie Cox took fifth place in the 400-m race with a time of 1:10.68.
The Bluejays' 4x200-m relay team took fourth with a time of 2:07.80.
On the boys side, several Bluejays earned points in the dash races. For the 8th graders, Raef Hilt won first place in the 200-m dash with a time of 25.60. Teammate Trevor Jackson took third (26.20). Jackson also took fifth in the 100-m race (12.05). Hilt took third in the 800-m run (58.34).
Dawson Journey took fourth in the 100-m hurdles (15.75) and second place in the 200-m hurdles (28.60).
The 4x200-m relay team took third place with a time of 1:45.35.1.
In the field, Collin Eldringhoff took fourth place in the discus with a throw of 94'11".
For the 7th graders, Corbin Collier (27.10) and Taylor Biggart (27.60) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200-m dash.
Collier won first place in the 800-m race (2:25.23).
Noah Johnson finished fifth in the 400-m race (4.71).
The 7th-grade 4x400-m relay time took first place with a time of 4:12.46. The 4x200-m relay team was fourth (1:58.98).
In the field, Biggart won the long jump title with a leap of 16'4.5".
Jonny Clausing took second place in the high jump (4'10").
