The 1-Mile Rainbows Family Fun Walk is coming up on Saturday at the El Dorado Civic Center.
This year’s event promises more than a dozen kid friendly activities, the opportunity to participate in a collaborative banner of the event, a live band, plus Chick-fil-A will be on hand with a mobile kitchen serving breakfast with proceeds going to Rainbows.
The festivities kick off with the 5K at 9 a.m. The 1-Mile Family Fun Walk begins at 9:45 a.m. and the Awards Ceremony will take place at 10:15 a.m.
Registration is $20 for individual adults and $15 for teenagers age 13-17 and free for children 12 and under.
Participants can register online at RainbowsUnited.org. There will also be same day registration for an additional fee.
Proceeds benefit children birth – 21 with special needs served through Rainbows’ two Butler County services: Targeted Case Management, Bright Beginnings Infant/Toddler Services.
Free child care will be available for children ages two through eight during the 5K event, provided by the Butler Community College Association for Early Childhood Education.
Families should reserve a child care spot in advance by calling Blair at (316) 558-3433. Strollers, wheelchairs and dogs on leashes will be welcome to join in the Family Fun Walk. There are also many opportunities for volunteers.
Participants will receive a t-shirt and there will be opportunities for prizes, including an additional category for special needs athletes. Individuals and groups dressed as a rainbow will be entered in the costume contest.
