  • Wildcats earn first win at Collegiate, fall at Mulvane

  • The El Dorado baseball team earned their first win of the season in a make-up series at Wichita Collegiate.
    The Wildcats recieved a solid pitching performance from starter Easton Smith who went six innings allowing seven hits and seven runs only three of which were earned while striking out two Spartans to earn the win.
    Kyle Macy earned the save going the seventh and striking out two.
    El Dorado scored three runs in the top of second but Collegiate answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
    The Wildcats added two more runs in the fourth and Collegiate added a run to make the game 5-4.
    A four-run fifth inning propelled the Wildcats to the win El Dorado surrendering three runs along the way but holding on to the 9-7 victory.
    Trevor Crain had a two-run home run.
    Gage Armstong was 3-4 at the dish with two rbis and two runs scored.
    Aaron Riffel was 3-3 all singles and a walk. Tyson Jones was 3-4 and Easton Smith was 2-4.
    El Dorado had 15 hits in the game.
    The Wildcats could not sustain the effort in the second game as they fell in 5 innings 12-2.
    Quinton Morgan took the loss going 4 innings, surrendering 9 runs only 5 of which were earned on 13 hits.
    Riffel was 2-2 at the plate. Crain went 1-2 with a double, a rbi and run scored. Crain also had two stolen bases.
    Tyson Jones was 1-3 with a rbi and Gage Armstong was 1-2 with a run scored.
    The Wildcats travelled to Mulvane on Monday and fell in their first game of their series 12-1 in five innings.
    Kyle Macy took the loss going 4 innings surrendeing 11 runs only one of which was earned and spraying 8 hits and striking out 4.
    El Dorado could only muster three hits in the loss.
    Easton Smith scored the lone run.
    The Wildcats fell in the second game 11-1 in six innings.
    Aaron Riffel took the loss going 2.1 innings, surrendering 7 runs only two of which were earned on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 6.
    Kyle Macy, Trevor Crain, Tyson Jones and Quinton Morgan each had a hit and Macy scored the lone run in the loss.
    El Dorado takes on Rose Hill today at home beginning at 4 p.m.
     
    Lady Wildcats fall in competitive contests at Mulvane
    The Lady Wildcats fell in their first game 6-1 with pitcher Destiny Bowlin taking the loss.
    Page 2 of 2 - Logan Morrow had a triple, Andrea Valadez and Lauryn Brickley each had a double in the defeat.
    El Dorado lost 4-1 in their second game with Logan Morrow taking the loss giving up only three hits.
    Valadez had two doubles in the contest and Brickley and Bowlin added doubles as well.
    “It was a much better outing. We played very well for us. I was extremely pleased with our pitching and hitting, but most of all our defense,” said El Dorado head coach Tina Nickel.
    The Lady Wildcats take on Rose Hill at East Park at 4:30 p.m. today.
