CLEARWATER—Augusta's boys track team had one of its better all-around meets at the Clearwater Invitational Friday.

The Orioles scored 39.5 team points, which was good for sixth place. They were in the thick of things with the other teams in the field, except for Rose Hill, which won the team title with 175 points.

Garden Plain took second place with 63.5 points. Mulvane was third (55.5).

Kyler Steinkamp won first place in the high jump event with a final mark of 5 feet, 8 inches. It's his third title of the season, though Friday's mark was a little short of his season high. Steinkamp also took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.22 seconds.

Freshman Chaydon Carter continues to impress in the 100-m dash. He placed second with a time of 11.05, a mere .06 behind Rose Hill senior Jonny Pearson.

Brandon Smith took fourth place in the triple jump with a mark of 38'4". Logan Weakley was right behind him in fifth place with a jump of 38'3". Weakley also took sixth in the high jump (5'6").

The boys 4x100-m relay team took third place with a time of 46.16, about 2 seconds off the first-place pace by Rose Hill. The Orioles also took fifth in the 1600-m relay with a time of 3:52.48.

Jacob Hall took sixth place in the 3200-m race with a time of 11:36.54.

Bailey Reichardt had the top placing for the girls team. She took second place in the 100-m dash with a time of 12.86, just .10 behind the winner.

Riley Zerr took third place in the 300-m hurdles race with a time of 53.64.

The girls 4x100-m relay team took fourth with a time of 54.18. The 1600-m relay team took fifth with a time of 4:50.76.

Augusta's next track meet will be Friday, April 26 in El Dorado. The Orioles have a JV meet at Andale Tuesday, April 29.
