  • Jim Ross, 78, of El Dorado, died April 19, 2013 at St Francis hospital. The Celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Thursday April 25, at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
    Jim was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Virgil, Kansas the son of Edwin E.and Janet E. Sage Ross. After graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for four years. Hegraduated from Emporia State University and In 1956 married Martha McWherter in Toronto, Kan. They came to El Dorado to live in 1960. He worked for Skelly, Gulf, and Texaco refineries as the lead inspector of rotating equipment. Jim was a dedicated member of the Patmos Masonic Lodge. Twice he served as Pastmaster and for 25 years served as the secretary for the lodge. He coached many new members in the meaning of masonry. He received his 32nd degree in both Yorkrite and Scottish rite. Jim was honored by the Grand Lodge by awarding him with the K.C.C.H. He was a member of Median Shrine and served on the finance committee of Grand Lodge of Kansas. He rode in the Median Shrine Motorcycle unit and performed in many parades. Jim also loved to fly and he received both his private and commercial license.
    Surviving family include his wife, Martha of the home; son and his wife, Curt Allen and Vicki Ross of Eureka, and Scott Evan and wife Daysha Ross of Winfield; and sister, Christie Lynn Collins of Florida.
