Augusta's softball team showed it was up to the task of winning a close, low-scoring gaming against Clearwater, something the Orioles haven't had to do much of so far this season.
The Orioles then put on a hitting showcase in Game 2 on way to a sweep of Clearwater. The wins move their record to 12-0 on the season.
Augusta beat Clearwater 2-0 in the opener of Monday's doubleheader. The Orioles scored their first run in the third after Courtney Phillips hit a lead-off double. Phillips got to third on a bunt by Morgan Kirk, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Destiny Williams.
In the sixth inning, Brooke Eberhardt hit a two-out RBI double to score Williams.
Clearwater threatened to score in the fourth when the Indians had runners at second and third with no outs. But Eberhardt got a pop-up and a strikeout to end the inning. She finished with eight strikeouts and allowed just four hits and one walk through seven innings.
In Game 2, the Orioles lit up the scoreboard with four home runs on way to a 13-3 routing of the Indians in a six-inning run-rule win..
Casady Marlnee hit a 3-run blast in the first inning to score Brooke Eberhardt and Katy Nordman for a 4-0 lead. Nordman got on with an RBI single.
Eberhardt then hit the first of her two home runs in the second, a 3-run shot. Morgan Kirk and Kalie Robinson had RBI singles earlier in the inning as Augusta led 9-0.
Courtney Phillips crushed a 2-run homer to center field, bringing in Abby Tipton, who got on with a single, during the third inning.

Clearwater scored two in the third, then hit a solo home run in the fifth. But Megan Hayes only allowed three total hits and finished with three strikeouts and one walk to pick up the win.
