  • Opal Faye Wilson, 78, passed away April 15, 2013 in Wichita. Celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in El Dorado. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.
    Faye was born Feb. 25, 1935 in Chautauqua, Kan., the daughter of Avery and Vesta (Hubbard) McKenzie. Faye and Ron Wilson were united in marriage in 1953 at New Castle, Penn. He passed away July 15, 1987. Faye was a homemaker till 1970 then she started teaching in USD 490 as an elementary teacher, she taught until she retired in 1995. She loved children and enjoyed being around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved music and reading.
    Survivors include: children, Dawn (Dennis) Gardner and Mike (Cindi) Wilson, all of El Dorado; sister, Sue Miller of Pryor, Okla.; grandchildren, Kenda (Casey) Belknap, Kara (Shawn) Knight, Seth Gardner, Mickey and Mason Wilson, Luke Scanlon, Sara (Josh) Potter and Jordan (Brian) Ewart; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Cheryl Ballard and three brothers and one sister.
