  • Wildcats fall on tough road trip at Clearwater

  • The El Dorado Wildcats baseball team traveled to Clearwater on Thursday. The Wildcats were shut out for six innings and the Indians held a comanding 8-0 lead as El Dorado face their final three outs.
    The Wildcats scored 6 runs in the top of the seventh and saw a magical comeback bid fall just short in their first game at Clearwater.
    Wildcats starting pitcher Aaron Riffel took the loss, going 5 innings surrendering 6 runs in which only one was earned, allowing 5 hits and 4 walks, while striking out 4.
    Gage Armstrong was 1-4 with a double and two rbi's, Armstrong scored a run and had a stolen base. Riffel was 1-3 with a rbi a run scored and a stolen base.
    Kyle Macy was 1-4 with a rbi, a run scored and a walk. Trevor Crain was 1-2 with a double, a rbi and a walk. Tyson Jones was 1-2 with a run scored and two walks.
    The Wildcats got off on the right foot in the second game scoring two runs in the top of the first to grab an early lead.
    Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the lead was short lived as Clearwater tied the game up in the bottom half of the first then took a two-run lead in the bottom of the second.
    El Dorado added a run in the third and tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. Clearwater answered in the bottom of the fifth with a run and added insurance in the bottom of the sixth and held the Wildcats scoreless for the rest of the way to beat the Wildcats 6-4.
    Wildcats starter Kyle Macy went the distance throwing six innings surrendering six runs, five earned on 10 hits while walking three and striking out 5.
    Quinton Morgan went 2-4 with two rbis, three runs scored and a stolen base.
    Trevor Crain was 2-4 with a double and a rbi, and Tyson Jones was 1-3 with a rbi.
    Kyle Macy was 1-3 with a walk and run scored, and Aaron Riffel was 1-2 with a double and a walk.
    The Wildcats take on Mulvane next Monday at Mulvane.
