  • The Bluestem Lions baseball team hosted Belle Plaine at Leon on Monday splitting a two game set.
    The Lions got another fine pitching performance from Cody Easterday who went 6 innings with 9 punch outs and only one walk to earn the 5-1 win.
    A five-run fourth inning propelled the Lions to the win with John Stiger goin 1-3 with 2 rbis and Cooper Minnick going 1-3 with a run and Easterday going 1-1 with a run.
    Minnick pitched the seventh inning striking out two and walking one.
    The Lions led 2-1 after two innings in the second game but were unable to score again and Belle Plaine scored in the top of the seventh inning to snatch the split.
    Starter John Stiger went 3.1 innings, with 5 strikeouts, giving up 3 walks, 4 hits and 2 runs.
    Nick Saia relieved going 4.2 innings, striking out 4, with 2 walks, 3 hits and 1 run.
    Dakota Bullard was 1-4 with a rbi.
    Jacob Warren was 1-2 with a run scored.
    The Lions are now 6-2 this season.
