Officers and investigators of the El Dorado Police Department were called to the Villa Apartments, located at 700 S. Haverhill, to investigate a report of an accidental firearms discharge on the premises at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to Police Chief Tom Boren.
Officers reported a private security officer said he was handling his firearm while on duty and it accidentally discharged while he was in the office area. Officers observed damage to a computer, some furniture and through the walls separating the office from a computer and media room.
The investigation revealed that an 18-year-old college student sustained a minor injury as the student was working at a computer in the adjacent media room when the pistol was discharged. The injury did not require immediate emergency treatment.
