There were several comments in the March 30 issue of the El Dorado Times about Uncork Kansas.
My hat is off to Representative Will Carpenter for taking a stand against HR2206. The name Uncork Kansas sounds like liquor should be available in every store and kiosk in the state. I'm not buying the concern is about free enterprise and an economic boost to Kansas. There are several hundred outlets for liquor in Kansas now, and the state monitors them all. With liquor sold in every grocery store or street corner as some suggest it would be nearly impossible for the state to monitor them all, and it would make liquor readily available to young people. Representative Carpenter did the right thing by considering all the consequences, and standing up against the Liquor Lobby. We have a great state. Let's keep it that way.
