A Junk in the Trunk Swap Meet will be held at the Star-Vu Drive-In from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13.
This is a fundraising opportunity to help keep the drive-in open and running.
People are invited to bring their cars loaded with anything and everything they want to sell or trade. The cost will be $5 per parking space for sellers. In addition, admission for buyers is $2 per vehicle at the gate.
They also will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, chips and a drink for $4.
Among those who will be at the event is Martin West, with his Prison Ministry U.S.A. Donation options include: stamp donation for $10, inmate photo pack for $15 or rainbow “Free to Be Me’ white pocket t-shirts for $6 for youth through adult XL and $8 for XXL. His ministry promotes anti-bullying and anti-discrimination.
For more information on joining the swap as a seller, contact Amanda Baker at 251-2441 or email her at email@example.com.
Currently, the drive-in is closed and looking for a buyer to run it or demolish it.
A group has organized to help save this landmark for future generations.
The Star-Vu is one of only seven drive-ins left in Kansas. It opened in 1949.
