John Ray McCandlis, 60, of Leon and formerly of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
Visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday April 7, at Headley Funeral Chapel and service 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Augusta, with Reverend Steve Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
John was born in Wichita, Kansas on Oct. 24, 1952, to the late Faye (Humphries) and Ray McCandlis. He worked as an oil field servicer and supplyman at Hizey Oil Service & Supply for 10 years. He also worked at Safeway and IGA in Augusta and did home improvements for several years. On Oct. 14, 1995 in Augusta he married Jacque (Beaumont) McCandlis, who survives him.
He is also survived by: daughter, Jami LeeSnider and husband Joe of Overland Park; sister, Hazel Jones and husband Lyle of Douglass; grandchildren, Veronica and Samantha; nieces, Rhonda and Cheryl and husband Frank; great niece, Tasha and great nephew, Josh, and fiance Nikki; great-great niece Hadlee.
