  • Phil Armijo, formerly of El Dorado, is continuing to see success in his acting career.
Last year he made his first appearance on television with a role on “Burn Notice.”
Now, he is getting ready to appear on a show on Discovery ID called “Dead of Night.”
“It focuses on wild and crazy murder stories from around the U.S.,” Armijo explained. “What I enjoyed most about it was playing my opposite, I’m a nice easy going guy. This character is a cold blooded killer.”
He is playing Brent Huck in an episode titled “Drowning in Sorrow” where Misty Morse’s body is found floating in the Indian River on Florida’s Space Coast. Investigators discover she was leading a dangerous secret life.
“A weird thing about it is that it was very creepy going back to the locations where this all took place and reenacting the events,” he said.
“I had to find a dark place within myself that drummed up dark emotions. Otherwise it was very fun!”
This will be his first appearance on this show. The episode in which he appears will air at 10 p.m. Tuesday and at 1 a.m. Wednesday on Investigation Discovery Channel.
Armijo, who graduated from El Dorado High School in 1998, moved to Florida in 2000 to attend college and earned a master’s degree in the film program at Florida State. It was during that time he got interested in acting.
Next up for Armijo will be an appearance on “The Glades” on A&E.
