The process to search for a new city manager will begin at the next Augusta City Council meeting on April 15. At that meeting, after the four people who win today’s election are sworn in, the new council will decide how they will select a replacement for Bill Keefer, who has served the city for more than 16 years.
Mayor Kristey Williams said she has received interest from seven consultant firms and hopes to get a formal letter of interest from all of them.
“The council will choose the process,” Mayor Williams said.
She said she would get the information about all interested firms to the council before the next meeting so they could begin to narrow down the search for a firm that will help find candidates to fill the City Manager’s office.
Keefer’s last day is in May. He is leaving Augusta to take the same position in Grove, Okla.
