The El Dorado City Commission will be reviewing spec housing incentive recommendations during their meeting Monday.
The Ad Hoc Housing Committee reviewed the housing available for sale at this time in El Dorado and determined that there are few homes currently in the price ranges and sizes identified by the 2012 housing survey prepared by WSUCEDBR on their behalf. Currently, there are only four new homes available in El Dorado and based on the low number of new residential building permits issued in 2012 and the beginning of 2013 the situation will not change. The committee feels the proposed program will encourage and test the market to determine whether the city has reached the recovery point needed for builders to invest in spec housing without assistance.
In other business, the commission will:
• issue proclamations for Child Abuse Prevention Month and National Service Recognition Day.
• hold a public hearing for Project No. 289, Central to Sixth, to levy special assessments.
• hold a public hearing for Project No. 356, Boyer to Village, to levy special assessments.
The Commission will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
